The God Who Speaks: The Year of the Word
“Your Word is a lamp for my steps and a light for my path”
There are lots events and resources to support The Year of the Word, as an opportunity to know
more about the bible and to create new and renewed encounters with Christ through the Scriptures
But where to begin?
The bible can seem overwhelming, full of unfamiliar language, place names and traditions,
so to get us started . . .
At St John the Baptist Church
‘Introduction to the Bible’ Evening.
Sr Hyacinthe and team from Formation for Mission have been invited to spend an evening at the Parish to
introduce us to the bible. The evening is open to everyone, but especially to those who are unfamiliar
with the bible.
To be held in the Parish Hall on Monday 20th January from 7.30pm - 9.00pm
Exodus: Called to Freedom
This is an opportunity to journey along with Moses, as God frees his people from slavery and takes them into the Promised Land. This is a 10 part series of DVD sessions to delve into more detail of one of the more
familiar books in the Old Testament. No previous knowledge is required, and everyone is welcome!
The journey is due to begin on Monday 27th January from 7.30pm - 9.00pm
and finish Monday 30th March at 7.30pm - 9.00pm
As we need to order guide books for participants, please can you let the Parish Office know you would like to take part by 16th December (if you miss this date, please do let the Office know you are interested, as we’ll
order a few extra).
This is the chance to join Sr Hyacinthe in her weekly webinar, where she shares insights into the following week’s Gospel. Visit: www.portsmouthdiocese.org.uk/formation/webinar for more details.
